§  Be cautious with your personal information: Never share sensitive information such as passwords or bank details via email or suspicious websites.

§  Think carefully before ordering on websites you are not familiar with; or buying from individuals you do not know. Check that websites are secure (https://). Fraudsters similarly target popular social media sellers’ pages. Use with care.

• Do your research: Check reviews, verify the legitimacy of the website, and use secure payment methods when shopping online (e.g. Paypal).
• Recognise those phishing online: Sometimes they are easy to spot – grammatical errors, urgent request for action etc; often they are not.
• Enable two-factor authentication (2FA): Add an extra layer of security to your accounts by enabling 2FA wherever possible. Banks use this type of protection, and you can also activate it for other digital apps such as for social media platforms.
• Avoid use of public Wi-Fi: Cyber-criminals often use these connections to try to hack accounts connected to public Wi-Fi networks. Use a VPN to encrypt your connection.
