Don’t miss one of France’s oldest and most scenic car races
One of the country’s most remarkable car racing events is coming to Angoulême on the 15-17 September!
The popular Circuits des Remparts returns to feature a host of vintage cars which will drive along the city’s steep and extremely tight roads.
The weekend celebrates a century of motor sport. The date coincides with France’s Journées du Patrimoine – or heritage days. So, it’s an ideal opportunity to discover more about the sport and its historic legacy.
For enthusiasts of classic cars, the line-up includes K3s, two C-Types, a Leonidas and two Bellevue cars. A particular highlight this year is the centenary of the MG marque. For example, you can see Christian Berthold’s MG R Type – the only surviving vehicle of its kind in the world.
The event connects spectators with some of Angoulême’s history too. Ernest Ballot was born and buried in the city. During his life he contributed much to the mechanical and automotive history of Angoulême; the weekend will commemorate his achievements.
What else is in the programme?
On Sunday 17 September you can see test runs, races and demonstrations from 8.00 am to 7.00 pm on the historic circuit. This includes the competitions: the Concours d’Elégance and Concours d’Etat.
Tickets are available online from the website or on site (subject to availability in the grandstands): Place Bouillaud (every day), Jardins de l’Hôtel de Ville and Avenue Wilson (Sundays only).
